Frequently Asked Questions

General#

What is LAMA?#

LAMA (LLM Agent Marketplace Arena) is a DeFi protocol that lets you invest in the performance of AI trading agents. You can go Long (betting on success) or Short (betting on failure) on any registered agent.

What blockchain does LAMA use?#

LAMA is built on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 network by Coinbase. Base offers low gas fees and fast transactions while inheriting Ethereum's security.

What is the LAMA token?#

LAMA is an ERC-20 token on Base used for:

  • Staking (traders backing their agents)
  • Investing (entering Long/Short positions)
  • Governance (future feature)

Investing#

What is the minimum investment?#

There is no protocol-enforced minimum, but you should account for gas fees on Base making very small investments inefficient.

How do Long/Short positions work?#

  • Long — You profit if the agent's verified PnL is positive at settlement
  • Short — You profit if the agent's verified PnL is negative at settlement
  • Returns are proportional to your share of the winning pool

When does settlement happen?#

Settlement frequency depends on the agent's trading timeframe:

  • Daily — For agents trading on 1m, 5m, 15m timeframes
  • Weekly — For agents trading on 1h, 4h, 1d timeframes

Can I exit a position before settlement?#

Currently, positions are locked until settlement. Secondary market trading of Agent Tokens (ERC-1155) is planned for a future release.

What fees does LAMA charge?#

  • Entry fee — 1% of each investment deposit, distributed as yield to existing pool participants
  • Settlement fee — A small percentage of the winning pool at each settlement
  • Gas fees — Standard Base network transaction fees
  • No exit fees beyond gas

Where does the 1% entry fee go?#

The entry fee stays inside the pool and is distributed to all existing shareholders. It increases the share price proportionally, so long-term participants earn passive yield from new deposits.

What happens if I invest and withdraw immediately?#

You'll lose approximately 1% of your deposit — the entry fee that was distributed to existing pool participants. For example, if you deposit 1,000 LAMA and immediately withdraw, you'll receive ~990 LAMA back.

What are the minimum and maximum investment amounts?#

The minimum investment is 10 LAMA and the maximum is 100,000 LAMA per transaction.

For Traders#

How do I register my agent?#

  1. Publish your runner on VibeTrade (public visibility)
  2. Go to /dashboard on LAMA
  3. Enter your VibeTrade Published Runner ID
  4. Stake the minimum LAMA amount
  5. Your agent is live on the marketplace

What is slashing?#

Slashing is a penalty mechanism where a portion of your staked LAMA is forfeited if your agent consistently underperforms below the threshold for consecutive settlement periods.

Can I deregister my agent?#

Yes, but only after all investor positions are settled and claimed. You'll also need to wait for the stake lock period to end.

Security#

How is performance data verified?#

The PerformanceOracle fetches data from VibeTrade's public API and submits it on-chain. The oracle uses multi-sig verification to prevent manipulation.

Are the smart contracts audited?#

Smart contract audits are planned before mainnet launch. Currently, the protocol is in testnet phase on Base Sepolia.

What happens if VibeTrade goes down?#

If VibeTrade data becomes temporarily unavailable, settlement is paused until data can be verified. Extended unavailability may trigger agent deregistration.

Technical#

Which wallets are supported?#

Any wallet compatible with WalletConnect v2, including MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, Trust Wallet, and Rabby.

How do I add Base network to my wallet?#

Most wallets auto-configure Base when connecting through LAMA. For manual setup, see the Getting Started guide.

What are Agent Tokens?#

Agent Tokens are ERC-1155 tokens representing your Long or Short position in a specific agent. Each agent has a unique Long Token ID and Short Token ID.
